Acting Port Director Bruce Murley Speaks at CBFANC's 2021 State of the Port

Interdictions are a big function of CBP right now, concerning health and safety risks, forced labor violations, transsshipments.  The number is containers is up 13% over prior records at the port.  As such the selection of an additional CES in Oakland was crucial.  CFS was chosen, they are based in southern California, but they have the requisite experience in running a CES, and they will help CBP to
examine containers/shipments more quickly.  PCC Logistics has been a valuable asset and partner to CBP, and they deserve much credit for keeping cargo flowing
I am a new arrival, although this is my 3rd deployment to this port.
People wonder why I would leave Honolulu, and I sometimes ask myself the same question.  I started in Texas, then moved to Portland, and then to Honolulu as the Port Director.   I have extensive background in cargo control, but I am working to get up to speed on new systems at CBP.

Bottom line is that we are working to succeed in fulfilling CBP’s mission:  to ensure the efficient flow of legitimate trade into the US.  With that in mind, CBP looks forward to continuing its vital partnership with the broker community.
